Since no one is making the kind of car you love, you’ve decided to just build it yourself. Tell me what vehicle you would base your brand’s first model on and a few things you would do to make that platform your own rather than being just another tuner. Don’t forget to name your brand and the model. Include variants if you like, I love details!

Me personally, my dream would be to use an Alfa Romeo 4c stretched to accommodate the Lexus 2UR-GSE (5.0L V8 found in the RC F and GS F). The body would be all carbon fiber with a design inspired by the old ’68 Astro II Concept.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I’d call the brand Messiaen (after the French Composer). The models would be named after a bird while the trims and variants would receive a spanish/italian music/dance term.

So this Lexus V8 powered Alfa 4c would be called the “Messiaen Corvu.” Corvus is the genus for crows and ravens, plus it’s a play on Corvette. If I wanted a Spider variant, it would be called the Corvu Tarantella.

So Italian platform, Japanese drivetrain, American styling, French brand name, Latin-esque model names, with Spanish/Italian trims and variant names. Just confusing enough of a system to make sense as a high end brand!

I’m going to sit down and make up an entire lineup now since my mind is on it. Let’s hear your brand and model (that way we know who our competitors may be)!

Can I just modify a preexisting car to my extreme specifications?

Jaguar XJL with a brand new V12 and even better rear seat accommodations.

Kinja'd!!!

Brand would be Daimler. The XJ-based model would be the Daimler Double Six. There would also be a new SP250, with a stretched, more luxurious F-Type frame, same V12 as the Double Six.

Kinja'd!!!

And, because why not, maybe a model based off the Range Rover too, namely the SVAutobiography.

Start with an FD RX-7. Add an LS1. (I’m not sorry)

Kinja'd!!!

I’d call the brand Holdsworth, after a fun back road I drive sometimes, and I’d call the car the Moccasin.

You’ve obviously put a lot of thought into this. All I’ve got right now is that they’d all be powered by GM V8s of various size and dress - SBC/LS/LT. The design language would should be fairly understated and reserved. Maybe something like the Audi’s about a decade ago, but a bit modernized. The understated design though should be backed up by performance and sound - think VXR8 Bathurst S.

Don’t have a solid name for the brand yet. Lets tentatively restart the Hansa brand and pretend it’s named after the Hanseatic League.

First there’d be a need for about 3 bread and butter configurations that could be built on a shared platform:

Hansa Riga - Sports Car (4 seats, 2 doors, the size of the former M3/now M4?)

Hansa Malmo - Medium size sedan (4 doors, 5 seats, the size of 5 series or C6 gen Audi A6 on a stretched version of the above platform)

Hansa Wismar - Medium size wagon variant of the above (5 doors, 5 seats)

Aside from the above models, the brand should likely also have an icon car (Hansa Reval) in the form of a high end sports car/borderline supercar, similar to the R8 or NSX. There’d be a track prepped version of that available as well - Hansa Reval Unleashed.

Take a 4Runner(new), give it the drive line of the 70 series, and give it a 1VD-FTV.

I would buy the rights to use older platforms like the third gen Miata chassis, the LX platform, and probably try to get an old ford truck platform and scale it around.

The Miata chassis I’ll try to stretch around and make a coupe and compact sedan from. With potential use of a turbo Ecoboost.

The LX platform I’ll redo with some lighter materials and try to make a decent midsize sedan and small crossover with.

The truck platform I’ll try to make a small and decent 1500 1/2 ton truck to try and hold its own. Nothing crazy, just useful.

Just going back to a basic car company with need to have options and low prices, an America people’s car.

I like drawing cars, so I’ll just sell what I draw and make. I’ve genuinely wanted to do this if I win a lottery or something.

The company ethos would be kinda like a rich, hyperactive child of Factory Five and Zagato.

After a year of selling cars, I’d select a few new favorite sketches that I can afford to build for the next year. I’ll keep making the ones that sold over the current year. They will be limited run and small batches only because of market trends and a smaller sized company. Not for some aura of exclusivity. Premium builds will be offered but everything else will be $50k or less.

I’ll keep some retro and simple engineering and engine options, LS motors, like gated gear shift, manual vent slats, etc and cars would draw inspiration from concepts that never made it to production, new sexy cars and design classics.

Why am I not able to edit my posts?

Think this kind of a design language for the supercar:

Kinja'd!!!

And a modernized version of this for the sedan/wagon, but not in the direction that Audi took it, but more like the above.:

I would base my first vehicle on the Audi R8, but in RWD configuration. For an engine, I would take the V10 out of a LFA, and add a supercharger. As an added quirk, instead of a traditional auto/manual gearbox setup, I would take a sequential as you would find in a rally car. Body would be a mix of carbon fiber with a carbonized steel cage/mid section. I would call this particular model the “Glatt Kraft,” which translates from German to “Sleek Force.” I would like to see the range include a sedan (Front engine Twin Turbo flat 6, AWD), and a smaller coupe (mid engined twin turbo flat four, AWD/RWD sequential gearbox).

200hp FWD i4 hatchback...

... with ultra capacitors...

...and 600hp electric motors driving the rear for up to 5 minutes at a shot before the engine recharge is needed. For those group B moments

I would probably copy your idea with a slight tweak. I’d still use the 4C chassis as it’s a good mid-engined carbon-tub platform.

Then I’d stuff in the v10 heart from an LFA. Just imagine the sound coming from a beautiful body like the 4C.

Kinja'd!!!

Alternatively, I’d use the BMW i8 chassis and body

and stick in the v12 out of an F12 in the back.
